I have an unexplanable fascination for shayaris…may be bcoz i like urdu as a language…may be bcoz i like listening to gazals…may b bcoz…hey!!!…i guess i said “unexplanable”….lets keep it so… :) .

This interest reached its crest during my final year of engineering…back in those days…i can say – “i was a part-time shayar” :) )

A memorable incident happend in 2006, its like ….

One day in chennai (one of my initial days in the corporate setup), a co-joinee (from a different college), a south-indian chap , whom i met in chennai for the first time, showed me a shayari in his cell, i was extremely amazed to see that it was one of my creations which i had circulated digitally (through cellphone ofcourse :) ) back in college and it somehow managed to travel miles and across cultures to find its creator in a distant land :) . It was then that i realized – “The world is a small place.”

Now m gonna put down some of my own lines…..i hope u wud read it and like it (too much to ask for :) ) )

  • Yaad aaye jo tum humko abhi…
    Dil mein hui hulchul tabhi…
Lafzon ko tham liya zubaan ne haye…
Kehna hai kuch tumse….par fir kabhi..!!

  • Teri aankhon ke ye jo pyale hain…
Meri andheri raaton ke ujale hain…
Peeta hun jaam par jaam tere naam ka…
    Hum to sharabi….be-sharab wale hain..!!

  • Har pal tera nazar-e-deedar dhundta hai…
Tujhe yaad karne ke bahane hazaar dhundta hai…
Ik baar hi sahi, na sarik-e-khayalaat ho jalim…
Dil ye mera jaane kabse…sukun-o-karaar dhundta hai..!!

  • Gum-e-zindagi ke sitamvaar bahut hain…
    Ranj-o-mayusi ke deedar bahut hain…
Himmat-e-insaan ke aage kya nahi mumkin…
Mana ke sikast-o-haar ke aasaar bahut hain..!!

Hope you are allright after reading :)
Thank you that u did read.

P.S.: Wait for more of these :)

Bring home some medals folks..!!

Fuwa - Beijing Olympics Mascot

With the olympics fever full on, recently a local newspaper The Himalayan Times put up a topic for discussion. The topic read….
Olympics is around the corner and the event was initially started to promote the bonds of friendship and unity among sportspersons of different countries. Do you think the feeling of universal brotherhood is promoted by such events or do you think it is more of forcing one nations’s supremacy over another albeit under a guise?

I made up my views and replied with the following answer (which is still awaiting a print (i hope :P ) )

Inception of modern Olympics marked the beginning of brotherhood among nations on the grounds of sports. Ever since, it is regarded as a matter of participation more than of winning. In the recent times, however, the very ethos of the game has been overlooked on many occasions. Extreme competition and increasing pressure of performance are the primary factors and this is something IOC has to take into account and strive to make the game better.

As far as the question of dominance by a few countries is concerned, I feel it to be a cover for disguising the inability to outperform the opponents. An instrument used to hide from the truth of being a loser. It is time now, to elevate the overall status of players and to bring about a revolutionary change to the existing system. As a matter of fact, performance now-a-days is more dependent on technological intervention and scientific training than on individual endurance and perseverance. The so called dominating nations are much concerned and continuously seeking to surmount the standards and so, the position they get in such events is not unworthy. Consequently, we as a nation lag and fall behind in the race and feel dominated. I regard this as a case of administrative indifference towards sports as a whole and a matter of national shame originating from the lack of seriousness of concerned lot.

Financial inequality is of course a criterion which dictates the affordability of investment in this field; however, I believe with true volition, affordability can be positively compromised. As long as the disparity in the behavior of national authorities towards sports remains, this apparent dominance will prevail.

I dont know how many would agree with my view, but i strongly feel an exceptional change is required in the sports arena. And the change for good.

Believe and Become

“There is no secret. You just gotta believe.”

This is a quote from the movie Kung Fu Panda, which i happened to see recently. This line ignited me so much that i thought to write about it. I mean, why, why in the world, some people do and achieve which others dont even think about. There has to be something which creates this devide, Something which sepatates the achievers from the non-achievers. Why some people do what they always wanted to do while others just keep complaining. This “something” has got to be – something really great.

As the movie unfolds to find this “something”, the story moves around an ordinary panda, a big fat one, and his intense internal desire to learn and become a kung fu master. This panda resembles many of us, many of us who have an internal voice which at times (rather many times) tries to come out and tell us “Hey, do this. This is what u really want!”. But somehow could not manage to ring a bell in our heads which is occupied with the false sense of achievement. And slowly this voice vanishes.

The panda then by luck (or more appropriately “by destiny”) gets the chance to learn the art of kung fu from the greatest master of the town. In the process of learning the art, he becomes tougher and tougher and gradually gets equipped with all the moves and tricks of kung fu. But then, he is still not sure of his capability. A condition common to most of us, we learn the theories, we learn the executions, we learn the skills, but still not upto the mark. Most of us have apprehensions and doubts when it comes to taking decisions for ourselves.

Then his father gives the panda the mantra “There is no secret, You just gotta BELIEVE!!”. And it turns out, this secret “something” is actually “nothing”. There is no secret to success. There is no secret to start listning to our inner voice. There is no secret to believe in ourself. All that is required is

“YOU JUST GOTTA BELIEVE”.

I am positively moved by this movie so much so that i have decided to nurture my inner voice and make it more intense day by day, over the time, some day will come when this voice will guide me, and more importantly make me believe in me.

Whether to kill this voice or start hearing it to Believe and Become. The choice is purely ours.
